You have been hearing a constant humming and buzzing day after day.

It’s a wasp nest.

If you need wasp nest removal in Kent call Pest Control Kent and we will be happy to remove it for you.

What can you do?

First off, call Kent pest control. If you’d like to try yourself first, then we will give you some pointers that we hope you find helpful.

There are many different kinds of wasps residing in the UK. Towns such as Maidstone, Ashford, Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable will be home to all of them.

However, all of these wasps fall into two main categories.

The social wasp and the solitary wasp.

The Social Wasp

The social wasp gives us the most concern as they increase in number quite rapidly. They are found in sheltered areas like the eaves of a house at the the end of an open pipe, in attics, walls, trees, hedges or underground.

The social wasp never uses the same nest twice, so you might be tempted to wait for the season to finish, and the nest is empty before cleaning it away with a broom. Kent pest control recommends against this if any member of your family are allergic to stings. If you are in any doubt, please call a reputable company like Kent pest control and they will be able to rid this nest swiftly and safely for you.

The Solitary Wasp

The solitary wasp builds its own nest out of mud or wood. Some are known as squatters, as they settle down in another insect’s ready-made nest. If they aren’t building or squatting they’re paralysing and killing some poor innocent caterpillar and laying their eggs inside its corpse, which then provides readymade food for the larvae. Another place you may stumble upon the solitary wasp is in your garden, as they nest underground in their home made tunnels. So beware of this when you’re enjoying the grass barefoot on those summer days.

Kent Pest Control’s Advice on Getting Rid of Wasps

Shrubs or Bushes

Stand roughly 15ft away from the nest and observe where the wasps enter and leave, then sprinkle the pesticide into the nest entrance and exit. Then immediately vacate the area. You will continue to see the wasps coming and going, but don’t worry that’s usual. They will eventually carry the pesticide on their legs inside the nest to the others, and they will all die off in a day or two. If this is not the case then you need to repeat the process again.

Underground

Simply puff the powder directly into their home made tunnels.

Eaves of a House

This is a very common place to find a wasp nest and the first thing we suggest is to call Kent pest control, but if you do insist on tackling it yourself first try to see if you can access the nest from inside the roof. Wait till the evening when they are all at home and sleepy. Use a torch, but don’t aim it directly at the nest as this will aggravate them.

Air Bricks Under the House

Spray the powder into the brick at least twice, maybe three times for the full affect. It is better to spray in the day, but you might choose to do it at night when the wasps are sleepy and less aggressive.
