As a pest control company, we at Pest Control Kent, have had our fair share of various kinds of weird call outs.
Here was our latest job with a difference.
It was a request to get rid of ‘bed bugs,’ but it’s where they were that made a difference.

When you think about bed bugs, you think bedrooms, beds and homes. Not lorries, juggernauts and motorways.
But where there’s a mattress, there is ample room for bed bugs.
Unfortunately the bugs had already done their stuff to the people involved in this case. The guy’s legs were all bitten, sore and itching.
Still, once we came to save the day, our loyal clients were fine with the comfort of knowing that would be the last of it.
We cleared the problem up immediately, and the guys were extremely pleased with our service, not to mention relieved with the job.

Look for the bed bugs before they look for you.
Here are some clues as to what a bed bug looks like:
Firstly, it’s bad news for you if the bug is red, as that means that he has already had a feast. That feast has more than likely consisted of your blood. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Here are a few more descriptive words to identify the bed bug.
- Flat
- Oval
- Wingless
- Brown or red, depending on if they have eaten or not
- 4 to 5 mm
They ARE large enough to be seen with the naked eye
“I wish I could fly, way up to the sky, but I can’t”
They don’t have wings, so they can’t fly. Believe it or not, they can’t jump either. Don’t let this fool you into a sense of security though, as the bed bug loves to crawl from host to host.
What does the bed bug do to humans?
- Burning sensations
- Red bumps
- Itching
- Scratching
- Swelling
- Blister-like skin inflammations
- Red welts
- Large wheals
- Scarring
- Sleep deprivation resulting in stress
If you have had a number of bugs feasting on you, then your bites will be multiplied, as more than one bug has fed along an exposed area. If you develop a rash after being bitten by a bed bug, try not to scratch, hard we know, but better in the long run. If the rash persists or becomes infected, contact a medical professional immediately.
