Our door is always open @ Pest Control Kent

There are many ways to try and get rid of your pests. The best way is to call a professional company, and that’s what we at Pest Control Chestfield highly recommend. People have got themselves into all kinds of trouble, trying to save time and money at the expense of not calling in the pest controllers.

This will NOT save you cash in the long run. It could do the complete opposite, resulting in costing you even more money, time and heartache.

Pest Control Chestfield have put together a couple of mishaps, that ‘Joe Public’ have tried in the process of eradicating pests. It is safe to assume that these people regretted the decisions they made, and would definitely call an expert next time.

We are not trying to scaremonger anyone, we just want to expose any misguided advice you may be given, and let you know exactly what can go wrong when you try and ‘do it yourself.’

Mishap One

Delousing Cremation (What a Lousy Idea)

  • Problem: Lice
  • Solution: Heat them out
  • Result: Disaster

A youth hostel in Stockholm had an infestation of lice in their mattresses. One of the staff members came up with the brilliant idea of heating them out, so decided to put the mattresses into the sauna and turn the heat up full blast. This caused them to catch fire,  and the hostel nearly burned down. 700 people were evacuated and another 500 from the building next door.

The staff wanted to rewind the clock and call a professional company like Pest Control Chestfield. Instead of that, they were facing an arson charge.

Mishap Two

Blowing up Spiders

  • Problem: Spider alert
  • Solution: Vacuum it away
  • Result: BOOM!!

This story comes from a place nearer home. The highlands in Scotland.

An arachnophobic woman was at home, when she spotted a spider in her living room.  She thought that it would be a good idea to vacuum the spider up, so did just that. It made her feel better immediately, as she could no longer see it. Unfortunately, that feeling soon dissipated when she thought about the spider still wriggling around inside her cleaner. Scared that it would crawl back out, rather than emptying the Hoover in the rubbish bin outside, she sprayed some bug repellent into the vacuum.

That’s not all.

She turned the vacuum ON before spraying a good dose of it up the nozzle.

We don’t need to explain what happened next, do we?

You’re right.

It exploded!

The Hoover blew right through a sheet rock wall.

I guess she did kill the spider though, along with a few other bugs no doubt. Let’s hope one of them wasn’t her husband.

Here are some interesting facts

  • A firefly is a beetle, not a fly.
  • The largest butterfly has a wing span of 12 inches.
  • The Cicada insect lives up to 17 years old.
  • Crickets hear through their knees
  • Kissing bugs are not romantic, they are more vampires as they suck your blood.
